'Your luck will turn around'

I want to share photos and details of my parents visit but I'm a little busy at work to do that right now. So instead I am quickly blogging about my dinner last night. Laurie had some girls over for a really fantastic spread (and lots of chatter). She is an amazingly talented cook and does it all with no stress! Wow, wish I could have a dinner party with no stress...oh and good food!

Here was our menu:
pork lettuce cups
ahi egg rolls
chicken potstickers
veggie potstickers
asian slaw
seared scallops
*prosecco and sofia and red wine*
fortune cookies (hence the post title)

Thanks Laurie! Willie was jealous of my meal and your husband. :)

Summer

Happy hot July!
Some lyrics that come to mind:
Salt and Pepa's hit, and we're in effect

Want you to push it, babe
Coolin' by day then at night working up a sweat

What have you been up to this July? Hint, hint- create a blog OR at least send me some pictures!
This is what we have been up to over the last week...

Ruby Mine

After a great girls camping trip on Saturday night I was picked up by Willie, Laura and Matt for a hike. We decided on Eureka Gulch to Ruby Mine behind Alturas Lake. We weren't sure what to expect and after what seemed like a long incline we landed at the mine. It was in fact still perfectly intact (wish we had a flashlight) and pretty neat! Matt took some photos so I will upload when I receive them. I have tried to obtain information on this mine with no luck. A friend at the Idaho Conservation League was unable to find anything which is understandable since she mentioned the state of Idaho has over 8000 abandoned mines! I did find a piece of glass from a Big Chief brand soda bottle which would have been around 1925. http://www.angelfire.com/tn/traderz/bigchief.html
We then headed to Stanley for lunch, Redfish for an outdoor concert and then to camp with Erin & Benji. Needless to say we were all pretty beat on Monday! What a nice weekend-friends, outdoor activity, food and fun! Even Cash got to make the hike & camping...happy dog.

Bald Mountain Trail

Saturday was a good day. I hiked up Baldy with the Sarahs and took the lift down. It's a decent workout with the reward of the lift at the top. I will be taking my parents up when they are here on the 23rd (YIPPEE). We then headed to the SV Arts Festival to browse and eat (I love this kettle corn!!). Besides the jumbo bag of kettle corn, I purchased a butter bell handmade my Gordon Webster. His pottery is superb and he was priced to sell! Ever hear of a butter bell? http://www.butterbell.com/

Happy Birthday America!

Our 4th was spent relaxing by Pettit Lake. We are lucky Kel & Carol like us and let us enjoy their haven up in the Sawtooths. The food & the company were great...scenery not too shabby either!

Road Trip Part II

Boulder...
We had a terrific time visiting the fabulous Becky Crabtree. She showed us the sights in Boulder. We enjoyed walks to Pearl Street, margaritas at the Rio, lots of gelato, hiking, farmer's market, running loops, Whole Foods, Boulder creek and more! June and Hatch were the best of friends (of course). I have been telling Becky I would visit for a long time so it was nice to make good on my promise! Boulder is pretty cool. It was great to see where Becky lives and where Erin, Rach, Sarah L., Graffster and more went to school! Becky you're the best!
'Till next time...

Road trip part 1

Denver visit...
We hit some neat breweries with Brian and Adam Seppala. This beer snob was happy. I had two of the best beers EVER.
http://www.greatdivide.com/ (try the 15th anniversary)
http://www.breckbrew.com/ (try the vanilla porter)
Willie and Brian were so happy, happy to see each. I think that is reflected in the pictures below. I had alot of laughs too!

We were fortunate enough to see the Seppalas awesome house and meet baby Chloe for the first time as well. Chloe is super cute-good work Beth! We were probably even more impressed with their gorgeous home. They did an amazing remodel on their basement. It has a BAR WITH TAPS...radical. We need a basement bar, who doesn't? Why didn't I take any pictures of it?

Brian also has a scooter that Willie thought was super happy (I'm going to be PC here). My sisters will laugh of that picture of Willie on it...so fitting. Btw, in case one of Beth's sisters is reading this- Willie didn't actually ride the scooter, just got his picture taken on it. He did ride around on the automatic skateboard (shoot, I can't remember the name!). Loved it...
